Faster Networks

We provide physical layer management systems which not only simplify the design, build-out and expansion of network infrastructure solutions, but can also deliver valuable information to facilitate the rapid resolution of physical layer faults.
Network speeds are ever increasing and rely on the cabling infrastructure to do its job. A state of the art cabling infrastructure can insure you that as speed increase you want over run the capability of the cables supporting your service to your clients. Whether its copper or fiber BST has the expertise to design and/or install the latest cabling system to meet your needs. It is not uncommon for users to find their average network card to have 10/100/1000Mbps network speed capability. Network switches are routinely coming with these as well. This is on the user side. In the backbone of the network we can see speeds of 1000 Mbps to 10Gbps. There is a new 10Gbps copper-cabling standard hitting the streets that can support 10 Gbps speed out to 100 meters. What does this mean to you? It mean that network speeds are increasing exponentially and it is important to understand your needs.
Being able to manage your cabling infrastructure is another important fact to consider. During the life cycle of the cabling system there will be, what is called, adds-moves-and changes to the cabling system to support employees as they are moved around or additions are added for the facilities growth needs. This day to day management requires knowledge of how devices are connected and where they are located. The telecommunication standards define how a cabling system should be labeled and documented. This standard is currently know as ANSI-EIA-TIA-606A “Administration Standard for Telecommunications Infrastructure.” This standard defines the requirements for labeling and documentation necessary for a cabling system.

Fiber Networks

picture

We have experience with all types of fiber including single mode and multi-mode for longer distances. Our installation experience includes OSP (outside plant) networks for college and industrial campuses and for municipal networks.

Blown Fiber:

Twelve single fibers can be blown into one microduct simultaneously.

OSP

Our systems approach to Life Safety and Physical Security begins with OSP (Outside-Plant) design for fiber and copper network solutions to bring together alarm reporting and maintenance requirements of a large scale fire alarm with graphics combined with Physical Security plus intelligent video to analyze threats efficiently and economically. Human recognition and behavior algorithms allow the guard to concentrate only on likely or perceived threats, rather than searching through hundreds of cameras. Our use of smart cards and multiple technologies on each card allow us to transition or phase into new technology needs, while maintaining utility with existing systems, and record transactions from point of sale terminals on the credential or centrally while validating identity for applications from parking, to vending, to cafeteria or other point-of-sale use on demand applications. Custom fee calculation for parking and entertainment is available as well as restriction rules for grade point merit or financial status to help enforce delinquent account collection. Emergency phone and intercom integration is also possible through custom integration and video tagging for created event structures.

Wireless

picture

Wireless technology has come of age and is playing a big role in how cabling infrastructure is designed and installed within facilities. Most would think that wireless would mean fewer cables and in some respects this is true however these wireless devices have to tie into the cabled infrastructure as some time to complete the path. Access Points, as they are generally called, are the point where the wireless becomes wired. The key to cabling for Wireless devices is to provide the flexibility to place access points were they provide the best coverage. This flexibility comes from possible connection points consisting of a data cable and a power source for the access point. It is important to design this capability into the structured cabling system for maximum flexibility and scalability. BST has the expertise to design and/or install this infrastructure.
